When we planned my trip to Texas to help Jakeb get moved out of his dorm and ready for his summer in Kenya, I didn’t realize I’d get to be here, WITH MY KIDS, for Mother’s Day. Huge bonus!
Mother’s Day. With my kids. As it should be…..
On Saturday night, Tori brought me a box that I opened to find a dozen massive chocolate covered strawberries with a note from Tommy. He had ordered them online and sent them to Tori’s for me. Yep. I cried.
I spent actual Mother’s Day with my girls and we went to church and they took me to Chuy’s Tex Mex for lunch. They each gave me a charm for my Pandora bracelet which was a gift from my friend Jennifer when she left me behind in Singapore and moved back to Texas
.
Tori’s boyfriend, Austin, gave me a great gift of a Starbucks card and a cool pink and white otterbox for my iphone. Nice surprise and a great gift!!
Mother’s Day evening we went over to my sister’s house and crashed her Mother’s Day celebration. I did some laundry, what mother’s do right?, and we played Cranium. That is always fun!
On Tuesday night, Jakeb and Anna took me to Texas Roadhouse in Lubbock for a good steak and margarita. Jakeb gave me another Pandora charm and this mom enjoyed yet another evening and meal with her kids.
I’m so incredibly blessed to get to be the mom of Tori, Jakeb and Anna. Thank you for being such great kids and human beings in general. You make this mother proud every single day of my life! Tommy, thank you for helping me be a mom. We make a great team!
I cannot write a Mother’s Day post without giving much deserved credit to two other very special Mom’s in my life – my mother and my mother-in-law.
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Proverbs 31:25-30
~Thank you Mom and Anita for being Proverbs 31 role model Moms! Your children arise and call you blessed!
