We had no idea what the history was behind our condo location, The Anchorage, when we signed up to pay our LL a lot of money and live here. A co-worker of Tommy’s told him last week that it was the original site of a brewery for Anchor Beer. Well now we know! We’d hoped it would be relatedto Alaska’s Anchorage and bring us cool breezes or snow. Wishful thinking…
You can click on the photo above for a great article about the brewery, The Anchorage, Anchor Point Mall and Zhou’s Kitchen (the two story bungalow that the article mentions) and even Ikea.
We are really enjoying living here. It is just so incredibly convenient to so much. I still owe a post on ABC Brickworks. Now an HDB and a fantastic hawker center/market, formerly a brick-making kiln. Cool stuff!!
Update: Since this post, Zhou’s Kitchen has been remodeled and is about to become a Japanese bbq restaurant. In the spirit of Singapore changes, nothing stays the same here so I’m sure it will change a few more times in the future. We never even got to eat at Zhou’s. Heard it was pretty good too. Oh well, if you can’t go looking around for variety, just wait long enough and they’ll bring variety to you.
